Rodney slid the bag over towards Novak. “Athosian Tea,” he said with a solemn air.

Lindsey squealed in a muted delight, fingers reaching to take the bag in hand.

“Aht!” Rodney proclaimed, snatching the bag just out of her reach. “And where’s mine?”

“Oh, yes,” the woman said, pulling out the mediumish sized box. It was a nondescript brown paper, just like he’d asked.

“Excellent.” And Rodney made the exchange.

Sheppard was just about to step into the transporter when Rodney suddenly appeared at his elbow. “C’mon,” McKay said furtively, box tucked securely under his arm. Ushering John in, Rodney hit the screen designated for the jumper bays. The bright flash announced their simultaneous departure and arrival.

Sheppard ran a hand up behind his neck in bewilderment as the doors slid open. “Uh, we going somewhere?”

“Yes,” Rodney said briskly, grabbing Sheppard’s elbow again to direct him. “And you’re piloting. Before anyone can find us. I think Zelenka might have seen me, so we have to hurry.”

“Hurry….” Sheppard drew the word long as he shuffled along at Rodney’s pace. ‘Where’, his eyebrow arch asked.

Drawing them aside, Rodney silently removed the lid of his box and showed John its contents. John suddenly understood the urgency.

“Are those–”

“Oh yeah.”

“That’s, uh. That’s an awful lot.”

“Yep.”

“Why me? You could fly a ship yourself.” Sheppard paused. “Mostly.”

Rodney’s expression registered exasperation, but he explained anyway. “Because you’re the only other person who would truly appreciate them.”

“Rodney, I’m touched.” And John was, in a weird sort of way, reaching up to lay a palm over his heart. Rodney only rolled his eyes and grabbed John’s forearm, steering him towards Jumper Two.

While Rodney palmed open the Jumper’s door, John was calling up to C&C and getting them clearance.

They lay on the beach, a near-by tree throwing dappled shadows over them, as they dug their bare feet into the sand. They each held a Cadbury Creme Egg. John nibbled at the chocolate before dipping his tongue into the fondant center, drawing it out for as long as possible. Rodney just stuffed the whole thing in his wide mouth and let it melt slowly.

“This is the best… what’s today again?”

“Wenfday,” Rodney supplied, mouth full.

“Wednesday ever.”

Rodney beamed his chocolately smile, bumping his shoulder against John’s before reaching into his box for another.
