Challenge 001 :: Diaries/Journals

In homage to the Dr. Jackson Diaries, we’re kicking off with the prompt ‘diary/journal entries’.

Be inspired as you will! Maybe it’s an actual diary entry, maybe it’s the aftermath of someone who “shouldn’t have” read something but did anyway, maybe it’s a diary from another reality that somehow ended up in Daniel’s hands.

Written: March 12th, 2006

Half buried under her burden of plastic, Sam rounded the corner back into her bedroom and dumped the drop cloths unceremoniously to the floor.

“Hey, so the Colonel and Teal’c— oh my God! What are you doing?” She didn’t really need to ask; she knew exactly what that was in Daniel’s hands. And what he was doing was kind of obvious, nosy bastard!

“Uhm, nothing?” He had the good grace to look embarrassed around his wry grin, but also didn’t seem to be in any hurry to put it down. He was, in fact, still reading the page he was on. More like quickly skimming now that he’d been caught, but he had as of yet actually stopped the act of transgression. In a flash Carter was flinging herself across the stripped bed and was lunging for the pink diary still clasped in Daniel’s long fingers.

“I was just pushing stuff under the bed better!” He protested loudly, dancing away and shoving the tiny book up into the air. Little flecks of glitter floated down onto him and caught in the bare, unfiltered sunlight of the window. They gave his nose an iridescent shimmer. “You should know better then to ask an archaeologist to paint your bedroom and then leave boxes marked ‘journals 1970 to 1980′ in plain sight.”

She recovered from her spill onto the floor and was crouched in the best level three hand to hand stance the United States Air Force could afford. “Plain…!? They were under my bed, Daniel! In a box! That has a lid!” Feigning left and then launching herself right, Sam very efficiently took Daniel down.

Never mind that he had both the weight and the height, Sam had the leverage and the training — and it wasn’t exactly like Daniel was resisting. Instead, he was laughing and trying in vain to keep fourteen year old Sam Carter’s diary out of thirty-three year old Sam Carter’s clutches. He knew he’d lost the war, but that didn’t mean he had to go down without something of a fight.

She wriggled up his front, thighs briefly straddling his while she reached over him and… wow, okay. Suddenly everything went from ‘funny’ to just ‘fun’. Fun plus, maybe. A burst of heat ran from the top of his head down to his toes and seemed to settle somewhere deep in the small of his back.

It charged what little space was left between them, making for tiny shivers to run up and down his arms and legs. Far more surface area was dedicated to chest to chest, hip to hip and nose to nose contact and it made Daniel hitch his breath suddenly. Their eyes caught and unconsciously Daniel bit his bottom lip between his teeth. Sam flashed a feral grin of conquest.

“Daniel? Major?” Pitched with a false nonchalance into the room, Jack stood out in the hall with the rollers from the hardware store. He had an eyebrow raised and his most placid expression in place. Teal’c moved behind him, the other bags rustling in his hands.

Sam flashed Daniel her best “bedroom eyes”, dark and sultry with just a hint of a pout to her lips. His IQ dropped roughly one-hundred points into the “Guh…” zone. Then she slammed a palm into his forehead, thumped his head smartly against the floor and used the subsequent confusion to grab the half-sized book out of his hand when his fingers flexed open.

Jack winced as Daniel cried out in surprise. Teal’c secretly smirked. “Someone was getting into things he shouldn’t have,” was how Carter explained it when she stood up in smug triumph.

Standing back up slowly, Daniel made a big show of rubbing the back of his head. Oh, the indignity of it all, to be beat up by a girl! He caught Sam’s eyes again and that wickedly brilliant mischief was still bright behind them. This was so not over.
